TOFU FRIES WITH GARLIC GINGER SAUCE

Looking for another way to make tofu? These TOFU FRIES WITH GARLIC GINGER SAUCE are out of this world!

Deep fried tofu is a thing. And it should be tried at least once. When you deep fry tofu, the outside becomes crispy, yet the inside is soft and moist. It is so good!

This recipe pairs the crispy goodness of fried tofu with an amazing garlic and ginger sauce that is sweet and salty in all the right ways.

You can have these on their own. But, they are also great over rice or with some spicy roasted broccoli as I did here.

It’s quite an easy recipe, yet very tasty. perfect for a lazy weekend when you want to have something good but you don’t want to fuss too much over it.

Let’s get started!

TOFU FRIES WITH GARLIC GINGER SAUCE

WHAT YOU'LL NEED:

  • 1 block Firm or Extra Firm tofu

  • 2 Tbsp maple syrup

  • 1 Tbsp soy sauce

  • 1 Tbsp rice vinegar

  • 2 cloves garlic, minced

  • 2 tsp ginger, minced

  • 2 Tbsp water

  • oil for frying

  • Sesame seeds and green onions for garnish

HOW TO MAKE IT:

  1. Press and drain the tofu before cutting it into sticks.

  2. Heat up a generous amount of oil in a skillet. Once hot, place your tofu fries in the oil without overcrowding. You may need to do several batches. Flip the tofu while cooking so that it fries evenly on all sides.

  3. While the tofu is cooking, add all ingredients for the sauce in a small saucepan and bring it to a gentle simmer. Reduce the heat to low to keep the sauce warm while you finish preparing the tofu.

  4. Once the tofu is golden on all sides, take it out of the oil and place on a plate lined with a paper towel to catch the excess oil.

  5. Place the cooked fries on a plate and drizzle with the sauce. Serve hot.

  6. Enjoy!
